The written word. A dynamic fusion of letters, meticulously arranged into coherent and expressive words. It is my companion, the only thing that holds the ability to translate the language of my mind with enough clarity to tell you my story. An eternal conversation, a never-ending dialogue between the author and the reader. It allows for me to inspire and be inspired by someone I will never meet. It is a method to practically express my theoretical understanding of the world—a bridge between theory and practice.
Without it, the great thoughts and ideas of men before me, who have inspired me so deeply, would’ve been buried into the ground alongside them. Every author, poet, philosopher, scientist, and any other thought leader of our past who has made a profound impact on our society would cease to exist. The only thing that has kept them alive is the power of the written word. Because of this simple instrument of expression, they are still inspiring us, still immortalized in the collective of our consciousness—they are eternal.
It holds more clarity in the comprehension of understanding than I could ever verbally articulate. It has allowed for the timeless span of sharing ideas, philosophies, memories, events, and stories, preserving them for posterity. What else is there to say? Writing is great; it is powerful. It has given me the voice I could never verbally articulate, the medium to express my innermost thoughts, ideas, and curiosities.
It has revived the child-like wonder that we all lose somewhere along the journey of our adolescence. It has given me purpose, an escape from escaping the reality I’ve hidden away from. So I’ll continue to sit here in my chair, coffee at hand, typing away to my little nook of the internet, reminded that these little combinations of letters configured into coherent words have the power to change someone’s life the same way it has changed mine, because as the quote rings true, the pen is indeed mightier than the sword.

This is so true Ty! This is why books are so important. If we did not put pen to paper so much of everything worth sharing would have been lost, forever.
A sword that also could write as a pen would be the ultimate. I apologize in advance for my sense of humor.
